A sculpture reflecting on matter and the contradictions of our time through the dialogue between steel and silicone.
“Petrolio” (Oil) is a sculpture made in 2016, 135 cm high and 170 cm wide, in steel and silicone. The work stages the strength and density of matter, evoking energy, transformation and the resources that shape our present.
The contrast between solid steel and flexible silicone recalls the contradictions of the contemporary world: stability and change, progress and risk, wealth and vulnerability.
“Petrolio” invites reflection on the impact of natural resources, on cycles of consumption and on the traces they leave in the environment and in society.
