An Art Centre in the Heart of Chianti
In Sambuca in Val di Pesa, Paolo Fusi opens the doors of his studio: the place where the works are born and a constantly evolving research takes shape.

Projects
Un passaggio per l’universo
Project concept
The work is based on universal themes such as travel, discovery, curiosity and migration, experiences shared by many forms of life on Earth but finding their deepest expression in humanity. The installations symbolise “waiting stations” placed in different parts of the world, representing collective waiting and humankind’s aspiration to go beyond the planet’s boundaries. The work sets an ambitious yet concrete challenge: to imagine these figures beyond the Earth, with the aim of one day placing them on celestial bodies such as the Moon or Mars, in collaboration with scientific and space organisations.
Ombre sicure
Project concept
A naive way of life where everything seems given, taken for granted. The habits our evolution has led us to seem normal, but are in fact incompatible with the rhythms of the perfect ecosystems that give us life every day. We will realise it – indeed, we are already realising it: without the protection offered by nature, sold off by humankind, our very survival will be put to the test. The beauty of the sun, which has lit up both reality and fairy tales, could turn into destruction. And speaking of fairy tales, where “they all lived happily ever after”… a happy ending is not guaranteed.
I stand alone
Project concept
A collection devoted to existence and personal identity. The sculptures centre on what keeps us “standing”: ideas, character, convictions. Like a shadow supporting the figure, personality becomes an invisible structure that turns fragility into strength and presence.
Serie Firenze
Project concept
A tribute to the city of Florence: landmarks, architecture and historical suggestions are reinterpreted in a contemporary key with corten, zinc and innovative materials. The works fuse tradition and experimentation, telling the identity of the city in a personal style.
Serie Fiori Fantasy
Project concept
Born of fantasy, they hold together form, concept and colour. The series began when I moved from darker works to a more chromatic language: a shift that gave new life to my research into form and figure.
Beyond the flower itself and its figurative rendering, these works hold more than one element. The deliberately stylised figure of the flower also becomes a depiction of nature in its many forms. For example, when I made Ombre sicure – an installation that falls within the very idea of this series – I wanted to represent nature offering protection to humankind, and I chose this very plant as its symbol.
So not only an element of fantasy, but also of utility – stylised.

Paolo Fusi
In the heart of Chianti, Paolo Fusi’s studio is a space for research and creation, now open to the public as an art centre that can be visited.
His is a practice in constant experimentation, moving just as naturally from painting with coloured silicones to oxidising metals, and on to ever new solutions.
The sculptures and installations born from this research have found their place in galleries, art centres and public spaces, always driven by the desire to turn matter into emotion.

Metals, silicone, glass, wood… become actors in a creative process where each material finds a unique role. Imagination and experimentation guide my work, turning ideas and mistakes into ever new works.
