Overwhelming

Overwhelming: something that floods in and takes over. On an aluminium ground crossed by sweeps of yellow, a continuous line of black silicone draws a face in profile. In front of the eye sits a dense rectangle of horizontal strokes, like a screen placed between the gaze and the world.

Behind the face, the line dissolves into a wave of marks that flow to the right, multiply and take over almost the whole surface. It is hard to tell where the head ends and what invades it begins.

The aluminium reflects the light and shifts with the viewpoint, so the image never stays the same and perception becomes as unstable as the subject it depicts.
