Annapurna cashmere
An open hourglass, made of lines and voids, telling of travel as a search and of time as something we can only mark.

Sculpted peaks, boundless lands, explorations, exchanges between cultures: Marks the Time is born of the alchemy of those who travel for more than a souvenir to bring home. It is the insatiable search of those who are never satisfied, and it produces a spontaneous evolution.
The work was made for Annapurna, a cashmere knitwear company from Prato whose name evokes the Himalayan peak and the mountains of Kashmir.
The structure rises from the ground in curved lines that intertwine and separate until they trace the outline of an hourglass. It has no walls: it is made only of contours, and the void weighs as much as the matter. At its centre hang two glass drops, joined by a neck wrapped in fibre. In the upper one the fibre is still raw; in the lower one it has become yarn, red and blue. Here time does not run in grains of sand, but in the transformation of matter.
Nothing is eternal, least of all time. Creativity, though, can mark it and perhaps stop it for a moment.
