“Maremma ma…” grows out of a typically Tuscan exclamation, turned into image and matter. The work plays on what is left unsaid: the title hints at an outburst that may hold surprise, anger, affection or resignation, leaving viewers to finish the sentence with their own experience.

The work thus reflects the direct, ironic character of Tuscany and of the Tuscan imagination more broadly, turning a figure of speech into a visual mark and a small scene of everyday life.
