Description

“L’atleta mancato” (The Failed Athlete) is an oxidised steel sculpture, 100 cm high, installed at Villa i Barronci in San Casciano in Val di Pesa (Florence). It depicts a stylised figure caught in a gymnastic exercise left unfinished, suspended between the desire to go beyond one’s limits and the awareness of human fragility.

Worked and left to oxidise naturally, the material gives a living surface, in dialogue with light and the surrounding landscape. Through essential lines and evocative forms, the sculpture invites reflection on failure and resilience, turning the athletic gesture into a metaphor for the human condition.

“L’atleta mancato” joins the strength of steel with poetic introspection, offering a meeting point between contemporary art and human sensibility.
