An abstract sculpture in steel beams, “Elemento da collezione zoo” recalls an archaic symbol: a contemporary totem in dialogue with nature and public space.

Description

“Elemento da collezione zoo” (Zoo Collection Piece) is a sculpture made in 2016 from steel beams, installed at Palmi Giardini in Florence. It stands out for its rigorous geometry and the material force of oxidised metal, which blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.

Abstract and totemic, the composition recalls primitive forms and the archetypal symbols of ancient imaginary “zoos”, suggesting a dialogue between collective memory and contemporary research. Worked and left to oxidise naturally, the steel conveys solidity and permanence, while the structure invites the viewer to question the relationship between people, nature and sign.

Suited to green spaces and public settings, the sculpture is a synthesis of industrial art and environmental sensitivity.
