A sculpture in a structural steel beam that celebrates the strength and simplicity of raw matter. “Materia prima” is a tribute to the essence of steel and to the dialogue between art and industry.

“Materia prima” (Raw Material) is a sculpture made in 2016 and installed at Nexterior in Florence. 175 cm high, it uses a structural steel beam left in its essential state, with the marks of working visible and valued as part of the artistic language.

By highlighting raw matter and its imperfections, the sculpture reflects on the relationship between people, industry and nature, turning a functional element into an object of contemplation. “Materia prima” invites the viewer to rediscover the beauty of the essential and to reflect on the origins of artistic creation, where the hand meets the power of the material.

The work is a synthesis of hands-on roots and contemporary research, suited to public spaces, industrial settings and collections that value the expressive force of matter.
