A corten steel sculpture on galvanised sheet addressing violence and collective memory. “Gli spari sopra” turns matter into a sign, evoking wounds and resilience.

“Gli spari sopra” (The Shots Above) is a sculpture made in 2018 and installed at Castellare dei Sernigi, Barberino Tavarnelle (Florence). Measuring 219×81.5×20 cm, it is made of corten steel layered over a galvanised sheet base, creating a strong contrast of material and colour.
Through incisions, cuts and overlays, the sculpture recalls violence, the wounds inflicted on the community and the ability to resist and turn pain into shared memory. The oxidised corten, with its rust-coloured shades, evokes the passing of time and the scar that becomes part of the work.
“Gli spari sopra” invites the viewer to reflect on current events and social dynamics, turning industrial material into a powerful symbol of protest and hope. A work that joins formal rigour and conceptual depth, suited to public spaces and settings that value art as a tool for dialogue and memory.

Installed in the art park of the villa Il Castellare dei Sernigi
