I stand alone

Three figures rise from the crowd, each with its own shadow: personality as something reflected, and revealed, in what we cast.

A crowd of small black figures, barely sketched, fills the space like background noise. Three larger figures rise among them, each in its own colour: yellow, blue, red.

At their feet stretches a shadow that repeats their shape and colour. It is the only thing that ties them to the ground, and perhaps the most honest part of them. The standing figure is what we show, the shadow is what we are, and in this work the two coincide.

I stand alone. Standing out from the crowd is not only about being noticed: it means recognising your own shadow and carrying it with you.
